I decided to become a dentist for a few reasons. One, I mean, I always want to be in healthcare. I want to work with people and I do like the flexibility of dentistry. I didn't like to be in a hospital setting the whole time as some of the physicians do. So it's that nice balance between science and art. And I can display artistry at the same time while respecting the science.
I enjoyed working with people and the direct communication, and being able to take away their pain or be able to get something, give them some instant gratification. I enjoy more so, I mean, being around people and being able to be part of their lives, and being able to make an impact in their lives. And our patients, sometimes it's like therapy. I mean, we are like family and they'll talk to us about things inside and outside dentistry, and I get that opportunity to just change that, whether it's being a role model or whether it's just taking care of their dental needs. And that for me, that's big and I love doing that.
I want them to feel like they've visited their everlasting office that they don't want to go anywhere else. I want them to be able to be raving fans for us that they go and tell other people that you have to go to that office.
Patient care is everything. That's what we're here for. I mean, to care for people. So I mean, if somebody doesn't really truly care, they're in it for the money, then they're in the wrong business. So for me it's about taking care of the person and their needs. And that's all we're here for. And it means everything.
